Thank you for your help, I have a serious problem (I guess) I bought TOPO france Pro 3 (new), installed the CD (adviced standard way), put the SD-card in the etrex30, connected this to the computer through USB. Basecamp (or the installation cd, I dont rember exactly) prompted to unlock ('ontgrendelen' in Dutch) the map online. Online the device was found (had to download the driver), it gave it's internal serial number, I gave the serial number of the device Etrex30 and the productcode of the map. I pushed the left button: 'ontgrendel kaart' unlock map. Nibble Software S. This did not result in activation of the map on the device or on basemap, in both it is locked. I tried again, but it was indicated that the map was allready activated on a device.

And, in 'My Garmin' 'my maps' it is indicated that the map is activated - somewhere. Well, somewhere, but not on my device and computer, where it should be. The company I bought it from took quite some time to deliver the right product, and I'd really like to take this card with me soon. I tried the phone the helpdesk this afternoon but nobody was available in England and The Netherlands.

By the way, I would have expected some easy explanation between the FAQ as to how to transfer a map from one device or computer to another, but I failed. Perhaps because I am non native in english. This (underneath) did the trick. It directly worked right on the computer (after restarting basemap).

I first thought that unlocking the map on the GPS-device failed, but after total reset, and a lot of patience, it appeared that the maps do show. The device appears a bit slow on loading the large map.

(I would suggest to add two or three words about this to the webpage where the unlocking is taking place, especially in the Dutch version. Once you know for sure what unlocking is meant for, and that it's safe, it is very simple). (I guess I didn't need MapInstall. 2) Click on the myMaps tab. 3) Find your 40LM in the list and click on the details link to the right of a image of your device. 4) Find and copy the Product Key for your map product. 5) Connect your 40LM to the computer. Click on that. You'll be taken to a 'Unlock Maps' page. 7) Scroll to the bottom of that page. You'll see a section like this RetrieveUnlocks.png with the Unit ID field filled in. 8) Enter the 'Device Serial Number' and the 'Product Key/Coupon Code' (from 4)) and then click the 'Retrieve Unlocks' button.
