Question from Stacey I need to replace carpeting and will use hardwood from Lumber Liquidators, since it is on your list. I thought the Bellawood would be best for children, however, I’ve recently read bad reviews of the Bellawood. It is more expensive and supposedly has multiple coats of urethane to make it stronger than other hardwood, but that’s not what the reviews state. Do you know anything about the Bellawood, or what did you use? We were told there is plywood underneath the carpeting. Do you see a problem with this?

The only thing I think is important from a toxics viewpoint is to choose a solid wood flooring and NOT laminate or engineered, which contain various adhesives. I’ve not used Bellawood, for no other reason than it was more expensive. I don’t see that plywood under the carpeting would be a problem.
